The EdTech Hub is a newly launched consortium-based project funded by the UK government (DFID). With budget envelope of £20m spread across 8 years, the programme aims to establish a platform for research on innovation and application of technologies to close the gap in provision of education worldwide. This will be achieved through research, innovative testing of solutions for education and engagement with the stakeholders.
ODI serves as lead of the EdTech Hub consortium and is responsible for Programme Management and Governance of the Hub, contributing across Research, Innovation and Engagement spheres. The core partners in the consortium include University of Cambridge, Jigsaw, Brink, Open Development for Education, and Results for Development, along with several regional partners. The EdTech Hub is currently partway through its Inception Phase, lasting until December 2019, after which there are plans for the project to continue until at least March 2027.
JOB AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Knowledge and Qualifications
● Education to degree level
● High level of numeracy (with focus on management of complex excel spreadsheets)
● Familiarity or interest in adaptive/agile management principles
Experience
● Experience of working in a complex consortium with multiple internal and external stakeholders spread geographically
● Knowledge and experience of coordinating major donor-funded (preferably DFID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) international development programmes, including experience in budget monitoring and reporting
● Experience of working on set up and implementation of programme management, reporting and tracking systems (budget tracking tools, workplans, results monitoring)
● Experience of managing delivery to tight deadlines in a team environment, some experience of coordinating work of other colleagues and team members
Skills/Abilities
● Excellent teamwork and communication skills (verbal and written)
● Familiarity with communication and information sharing tools such as Kanban, Slack
● Ability to build excellent working relationships with remote teams
● Strong organisational skills and self-motivation
● Quick self-starter, able to work independently
● Ability to prioritise, work flexibly and under pressure and to strict deadlines
● Good IT skills to include excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, GoogleDrive, databases
● Ability to learn to use new software quickly
● Good proof-reading skills
Desirable
● Interest or experience in innovations and technology in education international development
About you
The ideal candidate will have track record of working in complex consortium to deliver financial and programmatic management of international development programmes. The candidate is interested in and committed to adaptive management and agile programming structures, with this role contributing to delivery of the Hub’s ways of working in this regard.
