The EdTech Hub programme are looking for an exceptional individual to support central communications for the Hub, working closely with project partners (nine organisations, including ODI), external suppliers, and colleagues within ODI.
About the EdTech Hub team
The EdTech Hub is a newly launched consortium-based project funded by the UK government (DFID). With budget envelope of £20m spread across 8 years, the programme aims to establish a platform for research on innovation and application of technologies to close the gap in provision of education worldwide. This will be achieved through research, innovative testing of solutions for education and engagement with the stakeholders.
About the role
ODI serves as lead of the EdTech Hub consortium and is responsible for Programme Management and Governance of the Hub, contributing across Research, Innovation and Engagement spheres. The core partners in the consortium include University of Cambridge, Jigsaw, Brink, Open Development for Education, and Results for Development, along with several regional partners. The EdTech Hub is currently partway through its Inception Phase, lasting until December 2019, after which there are plans for the project to continue until at least March 2027.
About you
The ideal candidate will support central communications for the Hub, working closely with project partners (nine organisations, including ODI), external suppliers, and colleagues within ODI. You will lead the creation of a distinct brand for this new project and deliver an ambitious communications strategy and activity plan to support the objectives of the EdTech Hub. The successful candidate will have strong all-round communications and project management experience, as well as excellent editorial judgement. You will provide strategic communications guidance and support to the EdTech Hub team, ensuring that all communications activities are well planned and coordinated and adhere to the EdTech brand.
Essential
Significant experience of delivering communications for an organisation, programme or project, involving multiple partners and stakeholders.
● Hands on experience of working across a broad range of communications areas, including editorial, social media, website management, events, public affairs and media.
● Good knowledge of social media, digital platforms and web content best practice and writing for the web.
● Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and from different cultures.
● Ability to shape content for different audiences, particularly policy audiences.
● Experience of briefing and managing relationships with external agencies and freelancers.
● Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
● Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise tasks under pressure.
● Strong attention to detail.
● Ability to generate plans and ideas and carry them through to completion
● Ability to quickly pick up new software and tools; a willingness to learn new skills
● Strong IT skills, with excellent knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office.
Desirable
● Understanding of/interest in technology in education and international development
● Experience in a digital multi-disciplinary team designing content with a focus on the user
● Familiarity, interest and some understanding of agile programmes and adaptive management
● Experience of using with GoogleDrive for collaborative working
● Familiarity with digital communication and information sharing tools such as Kanban, Slack etc.
● Experience working in (or working with partners in) a low-income country.
● Experience of working with the Adobe Creative Suite to design and edit.
