The Equity and Social Policy Programme at ODI is a multidisciplinary team leading ODI’s work on poverty, inequality and social policy. Its priority themes of work include poverty and inequality monitoring and analysis; social protection policy and system design, implementation and evaluation; basic services and “leaving no one behind”; and the humanitarian-development nexus.
The Programme Officer will support the team’s work across its different themes. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in financial management and budgets to support the programme and research and advisory projects, as well as a strong background in project administration.The purpose of this post is to, together with the Programme Manager:
- provide administrative and financial project management support to research staff throughout the project cycle from the proposal stage through completion on a variety of projects
- provide general administrative support to the programme; and facilitate the flow of information internally between the researchers and central support departments and externally with a variety of stakeholders.

Essential
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Education to degree level
- High level of numeracy
Experience
- Experience of programme and financial management, notably budget monitoring and budgeting processes
- Administration experience
- Experience of donor contract management
Skills/Abilities
- Strong organisational skills and self-motivation – able to work independently
- Multitasking capabilities
- Ability to work to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Advanced IT skills to include Excel, Word, email, PowerPoint, databases
- Good proof reading and editing skills
Desirable
- Interest in international development/humanitarian issues, in particular in the poverty, social protection and agriculture themes
- Experience with a range of donors in the international development sector
- Web / communication experience
- Experience of the SharePoint document management system
- Data management skills
- Willingness to travel abroad
