About ODI**
ODI (odi.org) is an independent, global think tank. We work to inspire people to act on injustice and inequality. Through research, convening and influencing, we generate ideas that matter for people and planet.
We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow or Research Fellow to lead our work on forced displacement.
About the Humanitarian Policy Group
The Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) is one of the world’s leading teams of policy researchers and analysts working on humanitarian issues. We combine influential, high-quality policy analysis with a capacity to act as an independent catalyst and platform for dialogue and debate.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team to lead our work on forced displacement and deliver an exciting portfolio of new work on climate-related displacement and social cohesion.

You will be leading a new body of work on climate-related displacement in conflict-affected settings and be undertaking innovative research and analysis on a wider displacement portfolio. You will influence the international debate through public affairs activities including publications, public events, and provide advice to governments and humanitarian actors at a senior level. You will have the opportunity to pursue new and innovative research interests by designing research projects, obtaining funding and managing resources for delivery. You will be influencing policies and decisions that make a difference though engaging with policymakers in knowledge and advisory processes, disseminating results though innovative and strategic communications and outreach.
Our work ranges from providing policy support and advice to governments and humanitarian actors, to engaging in public affairs and policy debates, to long-term empirical research programmes. Recent programme highlights on this agenda include:
· The CRRF and its application in East Africa and Bangladesh
· Protracted displacement and self-reliance
· Public and political narratives on migrants and refugees – implications for action

strong analytical skills, a capacity to write clearly, and excellent organisational and oral communication skills;
a demonstrated capacity for policy advisory or public-affairs work, based on an analytical approach, and an innovative and creative communications ability;
demonstrated interest and ability to adapt, develop and apply experience and knowledge to new research and policy agendas within the displacement field
ability to work in partnership – including with partners from displacement affected contexts - and to work as part of a team.
