About us
ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.
We are looking for a Programme Officer to join the Research and Policy in Development (RAPID) Programme.
RAPID aims to promote greater use of research-based development policy and practice through a deep understanding of the relationship between research and policy and development of appropriate tools and approaches for the different actors that take into account the complexity of the relationship.
You will provide administrative and financial project management support to research staff at every stage, from proposals to completion, on a wide range of projects. As well as providing general support the programme and facilitate the flow of information internally between the researchers and central support departments and externally with a variety of stakeholders.
Other key responsibilities include:
Support project leaders in the preparation of bids and proposals (with financial and other documentation).
Project, financial and contractual monitoring (in support of project leaders).
Programme coordination and administration.
Update and develop the programme web pages and other project-related websites in liaison with the Communications Officer.
General project support.
About you
- Educated to degree level.
- High level of numeracy.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong experience in monitoring budgets.
- Excellent communication skills, including good written and spoken English.
- Multitasking skills in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Good proofreading and editing skills.
- Advanced IT skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and databases.
Ability to learn new software quickly.
An interest in international development and humanitarian issues is desirable
