We are looking for a Programme Officer to join the Water Policy Programme (WPP).
ODI’s Water Policy Programme brings together people, evidence and ideas to solve big challenges for the world’s most essential resource. Our goal is for water and sanitation to enable peaceful, equitable, thriving societies. Unlike other water policy research groups, we work across sectors and disciplines to unlock opportunities for development through water resources and the services they support: water for life (drinking water, sanitation and hygiene), water for livelihoods (economic growth and jobs), and water for life support (environmental functions and services).
You will provide administrative and financial project management support to research staff at every stage, from proposals to completion, on a wide range of projects. You will also provide general support the programme and facilitate the flow of information internally between the researchers and central support departments and externally with a variety of stakeholders.
Other key responsibilities include:
Support project leaders in the preparation of bids and proposals (with financial and other documentation).
Project, financial and contractual monitoring (in support of project leaders).
Programme coordination and administration.
Liaise with project partners and subcontractors on financial and contractual matters
Monitor project deliverables, particularly where related to invoicing schedules
Budget set up, budget monitoring and reconciliation
Update and develop the programme web pages and other project-related websites in liaison with the Communications Officer.
General project support.
About you
- Educated to degree level.
- High level of numeracy.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong experience in monitoring budgets.
- Excellent communication skills, including good written and spoken English.
- Multitasking skills in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
- Good proofreading and editing skills.
- Advanced IT skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and databases.
Ability to learn new software quickly.
Knowledge of a language other than English is desirable, as well as an interest in international development and humanitarian issues.
