Senior Communications Officer – ODI Europe and Migration
Contract: 6-month FTC with possibility of extension or 6-month consultancy
Salary: £34,988 – £41,574 per annum pro rata

This is an exciting opportunity to help ODI expand its presence in Europe and its neighbourhood, and to amplify the impact of our influential portfolio of work on global migration. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced communications professional, with a solid understanding of policy debates and processes in Europe, Africa and the Mediterranean region. You will help enhance the impact of our research and policy advisory work and further strengthen the effectiveness, awareness, reputation of ODI as well as identify new means of communication to expand ODI’s reach and influence globally.
You will lead the communication sand policy outreach for flagship initiatives such as ‘The Mayors Dialogue on Growth and Solidarity: African and European cities taking action on human mobility’, our key workstream, ‘Public attitudes and narratives towards migration and refugees,’ and ODI MED. **

- Key Workers: Migrants’ contribution to the COVID-19 response
- Public narratives and attitudes towards refugees and other migrants:Kenya, Uganda, Sweden, US, Germany, UK.
- Public attitudes towards immigration and immigrants: what people think, why, and how to influence them
Other key responsibilities include:
· Under the direction of the Director of ODI Europe, support the development and implementation of outreach policy and partnership initiatives including proactively designing outreach plans to engage new audiences.
· Identify key target audiences and devise strategies to reach them
· Support the development of policy briefs, op-eds and speaking points for senior staff
· Support digital engagement
· Support publications planning and production, as well as the organisation of events,
About you
· Experience of policy outreach and engagement, including on Europe and its neighbourhood.
· Understanding of migration debates
· Outstanding writing skills, and the ability to summarise research information in clear, web-friendly, non-specialist language
· Good knowledge of social media, digital platforms and web content best practice
· Ability to work collegially
· Excellent IT and data management skills, including Microsoft Office
· Strong attention to detail
· Self-starter – ability to generate plans and ideas and carry them through to completion
· Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
· Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
· Experience of managing relationships with external agencies and freelancers
