ODI is an independent, global think tank. Our events bring together influential thinkers, decision makers and business leaders to discuss the most critical issues of our time. From international conferences to panel discussions and roundtables, ODI’s events attract high-level speakers and attendees from around to the world to showcase the latest research and thinking on international development and global affairs.
ODI is seeking to appoint a talented Events Manager to join our multi-faceted public affairs and communications team. The role will increase ODI’s effectiveness, awareness and reputation while reaching new global stakeholders from within and beyond the international development sector. You will be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of virtual and hybrid events and as Covid-19 restrictions continue to change and ease, we will be adding physical elements back into the mix.
In last year we have transitioned to deliver all our convening online, using the latest technology and formats to engage global audiences. You’ll be joining us at a pivotal moment of ODI’s convening, shaping our events strategy to reach diverse audiences through creative concepts and spaces.
A talented leader with experience delivering high-profile events and managing a small events team, this role is an exciting opportunity to develop and enhance ODI’s diverse events programme.
You will have:
• Substantial experience in a comparable senior events post
• A proven track record of delivering high-level events at a national and international level
• Experience delivering high-level events online, harnessing the latest technology and trends to engage global audiences
• Significant line management experience
• Track-record in project management
• Ability to work as a constructive member of a team
• Ability to distil data and research to produce key event concepts and briefings
• Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and from different cultures
• Excellent attention to detail while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture
• Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
• Ability to manage workloads and motivate team members
• Practical website skills and good knowledge of communications through digital tools, CRM database and social media
• Track record in safety and compliance through risk assessments, method statements and event safety plans
