We are seeking to appoint a Senior Digital Communications Officer to join ALNAP. The Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action (ALNAP) is a system-wide network organisation dedicated to improving the accountability and performance of humanitarian action by strengthening the humanitarian evidence base through sharing lessons, identifying key issues and, where appropriate, providing leadership to find collective approaches and solutions. About the role

This role is based in the UK.

This is a new role which will plan and develop innovative and creative digital communications content to maximise ALNAP’s online engagement with the global humanitarian sector.

Digital communications are a critical part of our 2019-2024 strategy to share evidence-based learning with the global humanitarian sector, improving humanitarian performance and ultimately delivering better outcomes for crisis-affected communities.

The successful candidate will deliver content across ALNAP’s website, social media, multimedia and email marketing channels. The senior digital communications officer will also support the network’s secretariat in improving our content and systems and embed digital best practice across the secretariat.

This role has a strong content, social media, multimedia and digital marketing focus but will also involve developing and delivering communications plans for specific ALNAP workstreams.

About you

We are seeking to appoint a Digital Communications Officer with significant experience delivering a wide range of digital communications preferably in a research and/or humanitarian context.**

Essential

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly Illustrator and InDesign).
  • Working knowledge of SEO.

Experience

  • Experience of using a content management system to create and publish website content.
  • Experience of using Google Analytics and other tools to report on online performance.
  • Experience managing relationships with external agencies and freelancers.
  • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms management, particularly Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Experience of creating multimedia content such as infographics, video, audio, animations and photo stories, demonstrating a good eye for design and attention to detail.
  • Experience of using Mailchimp and other email marketing tools.

Skills/Abilities

  • Video/audio editing skills.
  • Keen interest in and awareness of latest trends in digital commincations, multimedia and social media.
  • Excellent writing, proof reading and editing skills, with experience in writing for web.
  • Ability to work to ALNAP’s editorial guidelines and policies.
  • Ability to summarise complex data and messages.
  • Strong IT skills; ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Well-organised, flexible, and efficient.
  • Approachable and professional manner and ability to work cooperatively and productively with researchers, helping to shape research communications for target audiences.

Desirable

· Experience in coordinating communications for a network or membership organisation.

· Interest and experience in humanitarian issues.

· Experience in research communications.

· Fluency in other languages.
