About us
ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.
We are seeking to appoint a Research Officer to join ODI’s Development Strategy and Finance programme. Working under the supervision of a Research Fellow, the Research Officer will contribute to this programme of applied research, strategic convening and advisory services. S/he will join a growing team of economists and political scientists focusing on major themes in global development, including international and domestic finance in emerging economies, low-income countries and fragile states, and major actors, in particular the Multilateral Development Banks. Duties will include literature reviews, interviews, data analysis and preparing reports.
The Development Strategy and Finance programme provides cutting-edge, policy-relevant research on bilateral and multilateral development agency strategy and finance. We connect the discussions of bilateral agency strategy with those on the future role of the multilateral development system. Our aim is to make agencies and the global aid financing architecture fit for the future and ensure that they are effective and responsive to a changing landscape for international cooperation.
To do this, we work with governments and institutions — both bilateral and multilateral — to help them identify and operationalise their strategic direction, approaches and financing decisions. We also shape the global aid architecture by engaging in debates on effective agencies and development finance in a SDG era.
We are a respected and privileged partner for governments and international organisations. Our research, advice and convening has placed us at the heart of global debates about the future of aid, international cooperation and country needs.
Recent programme highlights include:
· 2016 CAPE Conference: where next for development effectiveness?
· An age of choice for development finance: evidence from country case studies
· Multilateral development banks: a short guide
· Bilateral versus multilateral aid channels: Strategic choices for donors
· The allocation of World Bank Group resources to leave no one behind
· Financing the future: how international public finance should fund a global social compact to eradicate poverty
· Designing the development agency of the future: framing paper
