ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.
We are looking for a Programme Administrator to join the ODI Fellowship Scheme team which currently consists of the Head of the ODI Fellowship Scheme, the Programme Manager and a Programme Officer. You will play a key role in providing administrative support to the Fellowship Scheme, which places post-graduate economists and statisticians to work for two years within the civil services of developing countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific.
You will support the Fellowship Scheme recruitment and placement process, by ensuring each element of the process is completed to the deadlines of the Scheme’s annual cycle. You will also provide support to the Head of the Fellowship Scheme in the day-to-day administration of the Scheme and in ensuring ODI’s duty of care is adequately fulfilled.
Other key responsibilities include:
Providing support in organising the Fellowship Scheme interviews and the Fellowship Scheme briefing session, arranging facilities, and liaising with participants.
Providing administrative assistance to the team during the annual placement visits to participating country governments.
Supporting the Head of the Fellowship Scheme in maintaining contact with current Fellows and over 1,000 former Fellows.
Providing administrative support on financial matters to the Programme Manager.
Monitoring current events in Fellowship countries and helping to ensure ODI fulfils its duty of care towards ODI Fellows.
About you:
Education to degree level
Knowledge of a variety of software packages including MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) database and website specific software
Strong organisational skills and self-motivation
Time management skills including planning and prioritising own work
Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
French and Portuguese language skills would be advantageous
Ability to work with a wide variety of people from different countries
Interest in development
