Contract:

Salary: Research Officer 1: £27,601 - £32,925 per annum

Research Officer 2: £32,926 - £39,306 per annum

About us

ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Officer to join ODI’s Climate Change and Low Carbon Transitions Programme. Under the supervision of Research Fellows, the post holder will contribute to designing and delivering innovative, high-quality and policy-relevant research, policy advice and public-affairs initiatives. You will contribute to policy research and advisory projects, engage with policymakers in research and advisory processes, and disseminate results.

The Research Officer(s) will support the ongoing work of the climate finance team which has led the way in tracking international support to developing countries and analyzing the key governance principles. We conduct high quality applied research and provide practical advice to inform and influence policies, practices and public debate on climate finance. Our work:

  • informs international climate finance policy processes
  • helps shape the design and operations of climate funds
  • supports effective utilisation and management of climate finance in developing countries
  • evaluates options for shifting private investment away from business as usual towards climate change solutions.

About you

Research Officer 1

  • Understanding of international climate change issues and related finance
  • Experience working with data, developing analysis, and writing policy research and commentary, that responds to fast moving policy processes
  • A degree and post-graduate degree in relevant discipline.
  • Active knowledge of key international institutions in the sector and beyond.
  • Experience in producing research outputs.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Experience working with, creating and managing data sets, and conducting quantitative analysis

Research Officer 2

  • Strong understanding of international climate change issues and related finance
  • Experience working with data, developing high quality analysis, and writing high quality policy research and commentary, that responds to fast moving policy processes
  • A degree and post-graduate degree in relevant discipline.
  • Active knowledge of key international institutions in the sector and beyond.
  • Experience in producing research outputs in a short period of time and for different audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Experience working with, creating and managing data sets, and conducting robust quantitative analysis
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under minimal supervision, to accept responsibility and to respond with confidence to complex and evolving problems
